My cockatoo, Gabby, had a prolapsed cloaca early this summer. We live in a remove part of Arizona, hundreds of miles from a decent bird vet. We tried the one closest to home (90 miles) and after $300 and 3 visits, she admitted the problem was too much for her. So 200 miles into Phoenix Gabby & I went. First to one "specialist" who we befuddled after 2 visits. I had tracked down Dr. Wright, after reading reviews of his expertise, & called him. Numerous times he offered advice to me even when we weren't his clients....yet. We finally set an appointment to see him.....another 200 miles each way, for Gabby & I. I have to tell you, that was the smartest BEST thing we ever did. One visit and Dr. Wright has helped Gabby so much. She is her old self once again. He currently has her taking shots, and he put some stitches in her. When accessing her, knowing I'd already spent what felt like a fortune to my budget, he went over costs with me, explaining what he felt was necessary and what I could probably forgo. We figured out a plan and knock on wood, Gabby is so much improved!
If you're looking for a avain vet and you're in Arizona,do you & your bird a favor & call Dr. Wright. Don't waste time with others, you'll regret it. This guy knows his stuff ! I'm so glad Gabby and I found him!
(below the review asks for $ value....I don't believe Gabby is done seeing Dr. Wright, plus I plan on keeping him as her birdie doctor, so I'm just going to not pick a value amount)
