The recent political and media focus on healthcare reform is certainly long overdue, but it also seems to be muddying the waters where health is concerned. You have a stake in your own health, and that's just one of the many reasons I have become such a fan of community acupuncture. Rather than feel like I'm being preached to by a doctor who is encouraged to rush through as many daily appointments as possible, I feel like I'm on equal footing with the practitioners at Tucson Community Acupuncture--before each treatment we discuss how I'm feeling and the goals I have for the session, they listen to my perspective and respond with a unique treatment plan. I usually spend 40-50 minutes in a comfy recliner with the needles in place. And no, it doesn't hurt or freak me out. Since I started coming here (almost two years ago!), I've referred 8 other people (among them are a retired military officer, a couple teachers, a couple friends and a retired nurse)...every one ...
