First Time Attendance by Don M. at InsiderPages
This church is typical of the new era big box Wal Mart type churches. Very well organized fast service with lots of flash. Most of the people in attendance showed their respect for God by arriving in their best grunge or just finished doing the lawn attire.(one of the church slogans is God dosen't care what you look like and neither do we) My response to that is Says Who. The first part of the service is a 30 minute christian rock concert (while you are standing up, or you can be seated and surrounded by everyone else standing up) Nice senior pastor with sermon about a case for believing in god (preaching to the choir, thats why everyones there, we already believe in God) Briefly talked to another pastor who pretty much answered questions with check the website. Attended the get together dinner after the service where you can get to know people. Unfortunately didn't get to know anyone as no one spoke to us. I think it may have been the issue of my wearing a belt with my pants and wearing shoes instead of flip flops. My wife was really over the top with a blouse instead of a t-shirt or football jersey. Carrying my bible, (and I think I was the only one with one) and dressed the way we were we were probably considered uppity or snooty or something. We tried to appear humble and pityful and looking for friends and even mentioned to a few people that this was our first time here. Not exactly a warm and fuzzy feeling. Same feeling as your first day at a new school. Definitely not our kind of church but I am sure its great for many others especially those who just like to get in and get out with no fuss, no muss. Looks like the next step may be a drive-in service and you just tune in your radio and drop your tithe in the basket when driving out.
